Pressure Testing examines the integrity and strength of tubing, pipe, pressure vessels and other hardware using pressurized gas or fluid that demonstrates the ability to resist leaks, deformation, catastrophic failure, or rupture. Pressure Testing is performed to a variety of systems, vessels, valves and pumps. Testing is essential for systems that operate under pressure, as these systems typically require validation prior to operational start-up.
There are different types of Pressure Tests including Helium Leak Testing, Vacuum Bakeout, and RGA, as well as Hydrostatic and Pneumatic Testing. Hydrostatic Testing involves pressurizing a piece of hardware with deionized water (DI H2O), and measuring the pressure by attaching a calibrated gauge between the pump and the hardware. Comparatively, Pneumostatic Testing utilizes the same methodology as hydrostatic testing except that an inert gas pressurizes the hardware.
Astro Pak tests gauges, valves, tubing assemblies, and other components, as well as in-place systems, vessels and equipment. Our pressure limits are 30,000 PSI for hydrostatic testing and 10,000 PSI for pneumostatic testing.
Astro Pak is fully equipped to offer Helium Leak Testing, Vacuum Bakeout & Residual Gas Analysis (RGA) alongside our Precision Cleaning, Passivation, and other related offerings. Our state-of-the-art ISO/AS9100 Certified cleanroom facility in Downey, CA houses several vacuum chambers and ovens of varying sizes and capabilities including a large 78” Diameter x 144” Length Vacuum Chamber with Drying & Vacuum Bakeout up to 400˚C.
Our RGA mass spectrometer utilizes temperature and vacuum to drive off residual moisture and semi-volatile contaminants. Moreover, this achieves very stringent levels of cleanliness and dryness while characterizing and quantifying micro-contaminants. Comparatively, a Helium-tuned spectrometer detects and quantifies extremely small leakage rates.
Additionally, we routinely Precision Clean, Test and Package hardware and componentry for critical cleanliness industries such as aerospace, military, commercial aircraft, semiconductor, medical device, laser, compressed gas vacuum and more.
