To ensure absolute cleanliness, we verify cleanliness levels using different types of tests. This includes optical particle counters and gravimetric NVR equipment, photoionization detectors for solvent detection as well as dryness verification and digital dew-point meters for water dryness verification. Additionally, fume hoods, laminar flow hoods, and a complete wet chemistry laboratory for research and development complement the cleaning and testing services.
What is Clean Assembly?
Clean assembly is a unique field requiring special environments, hardware, and techniques. The interaction of precision cleaned surfaces with tools and a worker’s hand can reintroduce contaminants to the surface, resulting in a degradation of cleanliness that is progressive as an assembly is carried out. It takes special training to recognize where an assembler must utilize the techniques that will prevent such inadvertent re-contamination. The environment that such clean assembly takes place must also limit re-contamination that can occur from airborne contaminants depositing onto the clean surfaces being worked on.
Clean assembly is performed in a cleanroom by workers wearing special garments that prevent contaminants from the worker’s body – skin cells, hair, and skin oils – from being deposited onto the clean surfaces of hardware. The worker also uses precision cleaned tools to perform the assembly, preventing the inadvertent transfer of contamination from a tool to the parts. The techniques must avoid the generation of contaminants from metal to metal friction, or be designed to deal with those types of friction-generated contaminants by removing them from the environment as quickly as they are generated and thus preventing them from depositing onto clean surfaces.
It takes all of these things to correctly perform clean assembly – specially trained workers, a clean environment with a lack of airborne contaminants, special cleanroom garments that catch contaminants, precision clean tooling, as well as techniques & equipment that maintain cleanliness while work is taking place.
