Astro Pak has experienced an increasing need for Cleaning for Oxygen Service (CFOS) as high-purity gases are being employed across many growing high tech sectors including semiconductor and battery fabrication. We processed over 26,000 feet of pipe, ranging from half inch to 36 inches in diameter with lengths of up to 50 feet, to prepare them for system installation. The cleaning process involved soaking, rinsing, power washing, drying with nitrogen, capping the ends, visual inspection and sealing the entire pipe in two layers of packaging. The larger pipes presented challenges, requiring rigging to unload and place into the cleaning tank, requiring six 55-gallon barrels of cleaner at a time to fill.
