Astro Pak offers a wide range of precision cleaning and testing services in support of Aircraft, Military & Defense programs. With a tradition of innovation born during the dawn of the Space Race, the company has built on our 60-year history to provide current, industry-leading expertise in ensuring that each component will be ready for the rigors of operational use. From individual parts such as fittings, valves, tubing or tanks to hydraulic, oxygen or laser/optic systems, Astro Pak has a solution to ensure that they are cleaned, tested and ready to be deployed.

Each solution is custom tailored to the needs of the customer and the technical requirements of the part. Astro Pak offers precision cleaning, passivation, assembly and packaging among other services. Available testing services include hydrostatic, pneumatic and helium leak testing, along with cleanliness verification and residual gas analysis. Alkaline, acidic, solvents, DI water and a selection of aqueous solutions are among the processes and chemicals available to perform beyond the customer’s expectations. Included is Astro Pak’s patented Ultra Pass® citric gel cleaning technology which continues to outperform industry standards for passivating stainless steel and making it corrosion resistant. In addition to producing results that meet industry and government requirements and certifications, Ultra Pass® and its related processes keep costs down by better efficacy and vastly reduced environmental concerns.

With nine locations around the US, Astro Pak has a field office or cleanroom facility with skilled professionals ready and able to perform the work to the highest standards, whether in-house or on-site. Custom-built mobile cleanrooms and deployable equipment ensure that many components can be treated without having to be shipped off-site with all the risks and delays that entails, as well as without the added expense of creating a dedicated cleanroom facility.

Astro Pak also applies its tradition of leading the industry to tackle the complications generated by the rise of 3-D printing of aviation components. This new technology allows for increasingly complicated parts, with complex entrapment areas that make traditional cleaning more challenging. Moreover, the very nature of additive printing results in issues with surface smoothness, with a high roughness average. To meet these challenges, Astro Pak is engineering new processes to ensure that this new generation of hardware is cleaned to the same levels as conventionally manufactured parts to ensure safe and successful operations.
